- I have to say that, in my opinion, one
- of the most impressive effects I have
- seen in hand pixelled artwork (as
- opposed to rendered) is that of the
- appearance of liquid. The loading
- screen to the Control trackmo is
- indeed a nice 'n' shiny liquidised
- screen. You have to see it to know
- what I mean.
-
- The demo itself comes on two disks and
- runs on a standard A1200. It was
- released in July 1995 by Oxygene and
- was coded by Oxbab. The graphics come
- courtesy of Mon and Spiral, and the
- muzik was tracked by the talented
- Clawz of Bomb Software.
-
- The show starts up as a black screen
- with a dramatic musical background.
- Suddenly a pre-rendered 3D vector
- sequence is displayed, accompanied by
- some quick creditz.
-
- Next, we are treated to an, all too
- familiar, filled vector trip which,
- although not original, is well
- presented. Occasionally, this
- sequence is broken up by the arrival
- of various texture-mapped,
- lightsourced objects.
-
- A little further into the
- demonstration we experience a journey
- through a short, but perfectly formed,
- fractal landscape. Finally, we are
- shown a lightsourced, vectorball which
- does look impressive. A few glenz
- vectors contort for a moment or two
- before a STOP! screen marks the end
- of the first part.
-
- Part two opens with a boom, as a burst
- of hardcore techno blasts out as the
- screen zooms in and around a vector
- landscape that looks suspiciously
- similiar to an Electronic Arts logo.
-
- Yet another liquid style picture of a
- woman's face marks the finale of
- Control, together with a kewl OXYGENE
- logo un-rippling in the centre of the
- screen.
-
- Finally, we come to the obligatory
- vertical end scroller with all the
- greetz and messages within.

- Control is a very well presented
- production which Oxygene can be proud
- of. The only critisium I have, and
- there's always one, is that we've seen
- it all before. The vector stuffz have
- been done to death ...and dragged
- through the afterlife! It would be
- nice to see some more original effects
- and ideas now and again. Apart from
- that, Control is a good, solid demo
- that... well, is okay if ya ain't
- expecting anything special.
